The Balanced Budget Act of 1997 is an initiative by the federal and state government to ensure access and quality of care for Medicaid recipients across the country. Effective August 13, 2003, requirements related to the Balanced Budget Act must be in practice and accordance with regulations set forth by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
