Med-QUEST Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program
The American recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 authorizes the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide incentive payments to eligible Medicare and Medicaid health care
professionals and hospitals, to encourage the adoption and meaningful use of certified electronic health record (EHR) technology. The CMS will be responsible for administering the Medicare incentives
payments to providers. The Department of Human Services, Med-QUEST Division (DHS-MQD) will administer the incentive payments to eligible Medicaid providers in Hawaii. CMS which is establishing the
EHR Incentive program through the formal rule making process released the final rule on July 13, 2010. This rule provides many of the parameters and requirements of the Medicare and Medicaid EHR
Incentive Programs.
The DHS-MQD is current reviewing the provisions of the final rule and is in the early stages of planning the Med-QUEST Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program. As DHS-MQD determines the
specific details of the Med-QUEST EHR Incentive Program, providers will be informed through provider bulletins and this web site. For questions, suggestions or comments regarding the Med-QUEST EHR
